Posted on January 18th, 2017
The Confluence Heritage Society invites you to connect and celebrate with them in the Canada 150th Celebrations at the Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site.
On behalf of the Society, We would like to invite you to join us on February 18th – 19th , 2017 for the Family Day & Metis Homecoming Celebrations. There will be a range of activities for the whole family including Indigenous cultural entertainment, Metis Jigging and Fiddling Competition, Northern games, French “cabane a sucre” , horse sleigh rides, entertainment, fireworks and a Homecoming Banquet on February 18th, 2017.
In the summer we are recreating a version of the epic Centennial Voyageur Canoe Pageant held in 1967. The pageant celebrated Canada’s Centennial with a salute to the voyageurs. Teams representing the provinces and territories retraced the 5283-km. trade route in a race from Rocky Mountain House, Alberta to the site of Expo ’67 World Fair in Montreal. The Voyageur Rendezvous race teams will leave Rocky Mountain House and paddle to The Pas, Manitoba. The opening ceremonies on July 1st will include dancing, feasting, northern games, big entertainment, canoe events and fireworks!
We are in need of volunteers from the community to help us celebrate this sesquicentennial project! Please call or email me:
